Vermont Rural Ventures uses its New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) program to provide favorable financing for the economic, environmental, and social well-being of Vermont’s low income communities. NMTC funds are used to retain and create jobs and essential goods and services in Vermont downtown, healthcare, services, energy, and food, farm, and forest sectors.

A variety of projects are eligible including but not limited to retail and office space, healthcare, downtown housing over commercial space, manufacturing, community centers, farm, forest, food processing, and energy. Prospective NMTC projects need to be located within a qualified census tract. Vermont Rural Ventures targets the majority of its NMTC resources to Vermont’s rural areas.
