Vermont Rural Ventures partnered with Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation to provide $12.5 million in New Markets Tax Credit financing allowing Commonwealth Dairy to expand its production and warehouse space, acquire specialized equipment to improve operating efficiencies, control costs, create jobs, and keep the company competitive within its marketplace.

Brattleboro Reformer – Commonwealth Yogurt has been chosen as one of the three suppliers of Greek yogurt for the USDA National School Lunch Program. USDA earlier this year moved to include Greek Yogurt as one of the food products schools are allowed to consider when spending federal money on the national school lunch program. Commonwealth Yogurt, which opened in Brattleboro in 2011, will supply about 7,000 pounds of Greek Yogurt to schools in Vermont and Connecticut when the new rule takes effect in the fall of 2015.
